Here is a snippet from my e-book: PL-500: Microsoft Power Automate RPA Developer Study Guide – The Essential Companion now available here.
Section: Design solutions (25-30%)
Subsection: Design the solution
Topic: Select the types of triggers to use to meet specific business requirements
Suggested Approach:
To select the types of triggers to use in Power Automate, you need to consider your specific business requirements and how you want to start your flows. There are three different types of triggers for initiating Power Automate flows:
Automated:
A flow that is started by an event defined in a connector, such as a record being created or a file being added to a file location. For example, you can use an automated trigger to send an email when a new item is added to a SharePoint list.
Instant:
A flow that is run manually by a user, such as a button being pressed. For example, you can use an instant trigger to create a flow that runs on demand from your mobile device or desktop.
Scheduled:
A flow that is run at a specific time or interval. For example, you can use a scheduled trigger to create a flow that runs every week on Monday at 9 AM.
