Sumri is a Chrome extension designed to help users quickly summarize article content using OpenAI's ChatGPT API. This Privacy Policy outlines the types of information the extension may access and how it is handled.

1. Information Accessed

Sumri accesses and processes the following types of data:

• Website Content: When you click the “Summarize” button, Sumri reads the visible text content from the currently active tab to generate a summary. This data is used only temporarily during that interaction and is not stored locally or remotely.
  
  

• OpenAI API Key: You must provide your own OpenAI API key to use the summarization feature. This key is stored locally in your browser’s storage and is not transmitted to any third party except OpenAI for the purpose of generating summaries.
  
  

2. How Your Data Is Used

• The text content is sent only to the OpenAI API endpoint (https://api.openai.com) to generate the summary.
  
  

• No data is collected, tracked, sold, or shared by Sumri with any third-party services other than OpenAI.
  
  

3. Data Storage

• The extension stores your OpenAI API key locally on your device using Chrome’s storage.local API.
  
  

• No article content or summaries are stored persistently by the extension.
  
  

4. No Collection of Personally Identifiable Information (PII)

Sumri does not collect, use, or share any personally identifiable information (PII), including names, emails, addresses, financial or health information.

5. Third-Party Services

• The extension uses OpenAI's API to generate summaries. Please refer to OpenAI’s Privacy Policy for information on how they handle your data.
